I will do a full neurological, orthopedic, and myofascial exam of your pet to identify sources of pain, limping, restriction, or behavior change (a common symptom of pain). Together we will discuss previous injuries, diagnoses, and current treatment plan. I provide written treatment plans to every client including the treatment I provide for you and recommended home care. I can provide diet and supplement recommendations, written prescriptions, and home exercises.
Acupuncture is the practice of inserting thin needles through the skin at specific points to stimulate the body to release its own pain-relieving signals and heal itself. Benefits have been demonstrated in scientific studies to come from the activation of receptors in the skin at important sites near nerves, vessels, muscles, or tendons. Stimulation of these receptors help to balance the nervous system and relieve tension in muscles and fascia, reduce chronic nerve pain, normalize digestive processes and more.
Electroacupuncture involves hooking up a low electrical current to acupuncture needles. It can enhance the effects of acupuncture, especially for pain relief.
Lasers energize and warm tissues, giving similar response to needle acupuncture, but in a shorter time. The laser is typically applied for 15-60 seconds per site. This is a great option for dogs that dislike sitting still or have a fear of needles.
Cold laser is used at a more dispersed frequency to stimulate healing. This is particularly helpful after and injury or surgery
I will rent you a consumer strength laser unit during treatment of your pet. These units allow you to continue and improve treatment outcomes at home.
Problem behaviors frequently result from stress or anxiety in dogs, and cause stress or anxiety in their people. While these behaviors can be embarrassing or frustrating, they can be improved. I can help you with a written treatment plan for problem behaviors that includes recommendations for exercise, enrichment, training, and prevention of problem behaviors. If appropriate, I can also provide written prescriptions for medications to help dogs cope with anxiety.
I can help you choose an appropriate commercial diet and supplements as well as provide goals and plans for weight loss or gain and suspected or confirmed food sensitivities. If indicated, I can provide a written prescription for a veterinary prescription diet.
